Currently Accepting Commissioner Nominees

Two vacancies will exist on the Board of Commissioners of Summertown Utility District upon the expiration of the term of Commissioner Franks and Commissioner Gilliam on May 31, 2026. The Board plans to certify a list of three nominees to the Lawrence County Executive to fill these vacancies at its regular meeting at 6:00 p.m., Monday May 18, 2026, to be held at the District’s office at 104 Shady St., Summertown. A customer may submit their name for consideration by the Board for the list of nominees. To be considered the name must be submitted to the District’s Office no later than one week before this Board meeting, May 11, 2026. 

To qualify to serve as a commissioner, the candidate:

• Must be a customer of Summertown Utility District.
• Be willing to serve the 4-year term
• Take an oath of office
• Complete a minimum of 12 hours of commissioner training the first year.
• Attend monthly meetings which are held the third Monday of each month at the office
• Personally submit their name for consideration by calling or coming into the district office.

The deadline to submit your name is 3:30pm, Monday, May 11, 2026.
